Unequal Mat Edge Widths Possible?

Postby bkatsr on Wed Apr 28, 2010 1:33 am

This program is great. For my needs, this feature would make it absolutely perfect: Can the picture be off-center in the mat/frame, to allow a larger mat height below the picture? We use a legend box on some items and thus need the bottom section of mat to be larger than the other 3.In real life we cut second and sometimes third beveled openings in the same mat for legends. A floating 'text box' or = would be OK for the legend, but can also do outside the program if need be. Another way would be to allow multiple pictures of unequal sizes within the same mat ala collage, and the "legend"would then be one of the pictures.

Hello.

In fact we've got several requests about non-equal sided mat, especially larger bottom side, as you mentioned.
We'll introduce arbitrary mat sizes in ImageFramer 3. The picture can't be positioned off-center in the frame without a mat, as in real world. The itself is equal on all sides and is added to what's below it.

ImageFramer 3 also won't support multi-image college function. I originally thought of that but it turns out hard to implement using ImageFramer's way of thinking, where the design doesn't have a fixed size but rather gets built around the image, adapting itself to image's size and aspect ratio. This can't work in a collage-like setting.

In ImageFramer 3 we'll have non-equal sided mats, as I mentioned plus textual watermarks in additional to graphical ones (even multiple watermarks) so you'll be able to do what you write here using these tools instead of multiple images.
